As a Local Healthy Maine Partnership, HCCA works with community partners to reduce tobacco use and exposure, increase physical activity, improve nutrition, prevent alcohol and drug abuse, and link people to health screenings and community resources.
Winthrop is dedicated to helping its youth grow up healthy and strong—and we can do more of this important work. Winthrop Unites, in cooperation with many other local organizations, is planning a two-part conversation with local people to:
-present a framework for building youth assets: the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets
-look at what is already being done now in Winthrop to help develop these assets, and
-identify additional small ways that our community can add to what current efforts.
Nationally recognized trainer and consultant on the 40 Developmental Assets, Margaret Jones, from Old Orchard Beach, ME will be attending, and assisting the group with this project
If you would like more information about this conversation and/or would like to participate, please contact Megan Antonucci, Winthrop Unites (tel: 377-6848); or Neill Miner, Southern Kennebec Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention/HCCA (tel: 588-5027)
